Chelsea are in talks to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The France international’s contract at the San Siro will be expireing next summer and he is yet to make any solid  commitment in extending, these have given Chelsea a green light to work toward  securing him.

His arrival at Stamford Bridge  will be of great benefit, improving the team morals, securing the back totally and also stiring the other goalkeepers in the club working hard  toward getting no 1 shirt .

With the list of 5 goalkeepers Chelsea already having in their camp – players like Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, Djordje Petrovic, Mike Penders and Kepa Arrizabalaga , there is every possibilty of droping  but Maignan’s potential arrival would see him challenge for the No 1 jersey with the Blues.

Maignan has been with AC Milan since 2021 after moving from Lille.

He helped Milan win the Serie A championship in 2022 and the Supercoppa Italiana in 2024 after winning Ligue 1 with Lille in 2021.

Analysis: Chelsea will need to offload goalkeepers

Chelsea is putting a lot of effort into signing Maignan. The player only has one year left on his contract with AC Milan, and it appears that he is up to the task of heading to the Premier League.

“I am aware that many Chelsea fans have been urging the team to get a new super net work since they aren’t quite sold on Filip Jorgensen or Robert Sanchez.

They do, however, have a number of goalkeepers on their roster, including Mike Penders from Genk who has spent time on loan there and Djordje Petrovic, who has been on loan at Strasbourg.

They still have Kepa, who has been on loan at Bournemouth, and he has been dubbed the new Thibaut Courtois.

There is no way Chelsea could enter the upcoming season with six goalkeepers of such caliber on their roster. You would think there would be room for at least one of those to depart if and when Maignan arrives.

“But it would be a really good signing for Chelsea, a lot of fans aren’t happy with the No 1 situation and they are used to having world-class goalkeepers like Petr Cech and Courtois.

Chelsea rejects the Sancho offer and will instead give Manchester United a penalty fee.

Chelsea will have to pay Manchester United £5 million if they opt to renounce their commitment to permanently sign Jadon Sancho.
In other news, Chelsea has decided not to fulfill their £25 million commitment to permanently sign Jadon Sancho this summer.

Rather, they will release themselves from the commitment by paying Manchester United a £5 million penalty.

After failing to reach a personal agreement to prolong his stay at Chelsea, Sancho will return to United at the end of June.

During a season-long loan at Stamford Bridge, the winger scored five goals, including in the Conference League final victory over Real Betis last month.

He also contributed 10 assists across all competitions.

There is interest in Sancho from clubs across Europe, and Sancho has one year left on his lucrative United contract, which is believed to be worth up to £300,000 a week.
